Googlebombs Are No More!
Google just announced that they will do something about Googlebombs. Googlebombs have become a problem ever since more and more people were attacked. Google has now decided to hand code a new algorithm just to minimize the affects of a Googlebomb. But why now after a dozen of people have been attacked? Why didn’t they do something about it from the beginning?
According to the Google Webmaster blog people were mistaking Google bombs as having been made by Google. So in a way Bush’s “miserable failure” was thought by some to be done by Google because of their dissatisfaction with his presidency.
Google didn’t edit these queries by hand because according to them:
When we’re faced with a bad search result or a relevance problem, our first instinct is to look for an automatic way to solve the problem instead of trying to fix a particular search by hand.
Now with this new algorithm Googlebombs will be detected and removed as quick as they appear in a “couple” of languages. For example if you search “miserable failure” in Google now the Bush White House page isn’t there anymore.
