Google: Only 2% Fraud Clicks?

UPDATE: Google adwords now has a section for advertisers to see the fraudulent clicks on their campaigns.

Here’s a good one google just claimed that the fraudulent clicks on it’s advertising empire is only 2%. Which means that it’s less than one percent in real term numbers. Google’s business product manager for trust and safety at Google, Shuman Ghosemajumder, announced it today claiming that other analytics programs were just trying to make google look bad by exaggerating the number of fraud clicks.

Click fraud referring to when automatic programs or a user imitates a legitimate user by clicking on an ad, but with no intention of visiting the website or purchasing any of it’s products. Since google wouldn’t release it’s counts some advertisers resorted to third party tracking to figure out the fraudulent count.

But google in a statement by Shuman Ghosemajumder says that fraudulent clicks only amount up to 2% of all clicks. This is very good news and removes all bad standing google adsense was getting recently.

Thank You

Even More UPDATEs: Ghosemajumder just contacted marketingpligrim and gave him a nice layout of how the fraud detecting works. Which is through four layers apparently. Check out this exclusive interview it’s a good read.
