Google Facing New VOD Lawsuit Backed by Microsoft

Just when things were going horrible for Google another lawsuit pops up. But it’s not the only one this time around Intertainer Inc. claims that Google, Apple, and Napster are all infringing on it’s patent on distributing digital entertainment over the Internet. So what does this have to do with Microsoft well let’s just say that Microsoft is a big investor in Intertainer Inc.

In a court in Marshall, Texas on December 29 Intertainer Inc. said that said companies caused irreparable damage by “willfully and deliberately” infringing on it’s patent. The patent filed in August 2005 lays claim to any “digital entertainment  service platform” which covers Google’s search engine, Apple’s iTunes, and Napster’s online music service.

So far none of the companies have commented on this except for Google that denies receiving any complaints.

This is a very time targeted plan by Microsoft as it comes at a time when a new Quarter is starting, to scare investors, and at a time when Google seems to be in shambles.
