Yahoo just announced that they lowered the minimum payment for their publisher network to $50 USD and you can get your money quickly using your paypal account. This is just another “scream” to attract more publishers since their advertiser network is growing quite well as most big advertisers go around the google-yahoo-msn network for more profitable return of investment on their ad campaigns.
We noticed that Yahoo is trying to attract more advertisers and publishers as we received a phone call from their search marketing department describing us all the yahoo sponsored search options as well as the content network. Yahoo is trying to grow and survive the Google giant especially nowadays where Google Maps and Local listings are prefer ed than Yahoo’s.
From advertiser point of view Yahoo increased their potential, and again from Publisher point of view the acceptance of paypal payments will increase the interest between publishers and will allow small website owners to join their network.
Lets see what’s going to happen.

I’ve just learned that Yahoo finally stopped asking for more money on additional storage space and set it up free Unlimited Email. That’s really good news since I’ve been paying for additional gigabyte storage space the last four years and that was my primary reason why I switched to Gmail instead. Actually the primary reason was the huge amount of spam that I receive in Yahoo due to my numerous industry newsletter subscription (that I never read) and I get like 500-600 new emails every day and its so hard to figure out which ones are important and which ones are junk so I’ve switched and started all over with Gmail.
I suppose I’m not alone is switching to alternative free email providers and Yahoo is still loosing accounts. Actually I believe that the most important event that helped them set unlimited storage quota is that they recently got some new mass storage servers and they are off the limit. Also If you haven’t already noticed that a week ago Yahoo almost doubled its search index due to the same reason.
Yahoo, read my lips - “That’s the way to attract people like me”

YPN just announced that they are changing their cost-per-click algorithm to quality based cost-per-click. With this new algorithm good quality websites with “trusted” standing and lots of traffic will receive higher value CPC as the chances for good Return of Investment for the advertisers is better and they’re willing to spend more money on each click. On the other hand low quality websites with high CTR like MFA (not really made for AdSense but made for YPN) will receive discounted clicks. In general if you’re advertiser:
•Benefits for your: discounting, higher quality traffic and potentially better return on investment.
•Action you need to take: Quality-based pricing is automatic so there’s no action on your part.
•When discounts will be applied: Discounts may be applied to your click charges where warranted, at the time of the click only. [Keep in mind that amount of discounts may vary between advertisers. Some advertisers may experience a noticeable decrease in overall cost-per-click, while others may experience only a small decrease in spend.]
This leads to massive reduction of the income of many MFA sites making it unworthy to use the Yahoo Publisher Network. The only thing that is really interesting is if Google AdSense will try to implement something similar if not already in place. We’ve been noticing some very strange changes that occur on change in quality of one website for practically the same content, but currently we don’t have any absolute proof on this matters.
This event will boost up new advertising networks that wish to over their services to MFA websites, although most of them inspect carefully which publishers they are choosing by default.

Recently the rumor that Microsoft had offered $50 BIL for Yahoo was confirmed. The initial idea for partnership between the two giants was transformed into monopoly and this shocks the webmasters world! What is going to happen now? Is that their way of answering the Google Monopoly threat? What is going to be the new look of MsYahoo?
Since the beginning of the Microsoft Dynasty MSN was trying to expand as much as possible and conquer new territories and users. The MSN/HOTMAIL paid services (including ISP) brought a lot of money to Microsoft, but nobody noticed any large increase in quality. The MSN/LIVE search engines, as always, are displaying old and sometimes irrelevant information and all SEO’s know that they are easiest to fool around with so spam is a constant issue for MS.
On the other hand Yahoo somehow managed to build up a very nice portal and that is really amazing. About 40% of the people I know love to digg into the Yahoo pages and the search is getting very popular especially after the fact that Yahoo is the only search engine that shows 100% of the backlinks for a particular web page (or closer to that) and therefore its a very nice tool for SEO when estimating the competition. Yahoo also got some nice money from advertising and also quite a lot from its Directory which now costs $260 annually and that’s for simply listing your website there.
The latest trends in Search lead me to think that MSN/Live definitely need something new and Yahoo is answer to their prayers. I’m assuming that if they close this deal MSN will export Yahoo’s search algorithm and put it on Live so that Live can finally LIVE somehow less spammy! Also I suspect that Yahoo will be filled up with Microsoft advertisements and you will most probably see Windows VISTA ads all over it. So sad with that vista issue .. but I guess when they release Service Pack 1 and 2 they might really get it going… but that’s on another topic.
Overall we can’t do anything but sit and wait to see what the Giants will do. Now we can only speculate and bring up theories.
TLA SPACE: In this fast growing internet age, many work from home jobs are available for IT specialist. Still some one thinking of starting business has millions of available options. In this regard best option can be the establishment of a website hosting company. For this all you need is a reseller account from any bigger hosting company and then you can easily offer cheap hosting packages to your clients. The only hurdle in this sense can be the financial weakness. This problem can be solved by obtaining small business loans from financial institutions. Many people prefer to go for mortgage loans as they can get these loans with good packages of insurance like travel health insurance.

Finally after outcries in the SEO community about the restrictions that Yahoo places on listings by having them display their Yahoo Directory title and description instead of going with meta tags on the website.Yahoo has decided to support the NOYDIR and the NOODP meta tags. This is great because many people were refraining from submitting their sites to the Yahoo directory just in fear that it will freeze their SERPs in Yahoo forever.
Being an avid fan of Yahoo I couldn’t believe they had this feature still running. In the SEO world many people had gotten used to ignoring the Yahoo Directory when it comes to doing link building for any website.
There are two forms to tell Yahoo to not use the default Yahoo Dir. description and title:
<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOYDIR">
or
<META NAME="Slurp" CONTENT="NOYDIR">
I suspect this is going to increase Yahoo Dir. submissions for a while now so if you are thinking of submitting for the free option think again.

TLA SPACE: Nowadays many web hosting companies are offering their services. This is why a novice webmaster becomes confused while making the selection of hosting company for him. Even with the introduction of satellite phones every one has get the access to internet but still he does not have enough sources to information. Here are some tips to find the best hosting for your website. First of all check the uptime guarantee of its data center. If you are going for dedicated hosting, make sure that he is providing you the entire server and not a part of that server. Secondly check the search engine advertising services of that company. Most of all you have to check their PPC advertising services. Check whether their PPC management team is capable enough to meet your requirements.

Globalwarming Awareness2007 is a SEO contest aimed at drawing public support for global warming. Not to mention offers a couple of good prizes like a brand new car. That’s all fine and dandy except for one thing a wikipedia page is showing in the results for the term, “globalwarming awareness2007″, as if it’s a contestant.

It seems Google Blogoscopped’s concerns about results from the contest spilling over to the actual global warming keywords may be coming true. If original pages like the wikipedia global warming page are getting sucked into the contest’s results this may go the other way. The wikipedia page has no words even resembling the weird contest keywords. Even the cache for the page proves this true yet it shows up.
This is probably due to some user trying to spam the page with their link trying to get a higher rank in the SEO contest which prompted wikipedia to nofollow every outside link. But it may not be. Either way the cache page shows that Yahoo could have figured that the page has nothing to do with that query.

Yahoo just announced new features for their site explorer service. Basically the same idea behind Google webmaster central except it’s a little bit slow on progress in terms of features. So you can understand how these new features like authenticating your website via a meta tag and Link Count badge are important.
Yahoo Site Explorer: This new ability to able to authenticate that you own a website via a META tag copies Google Webmaster Central’ s tool. Before you could authenticate your website via uploading a file. Now it’s both this will help freely hosted websites like Blogger or Wordpress.com blogs get their blogs verified. This also with better reporting of the errors encountered during the authentication. I am writing this as I am authenticating several of my Blogger blogs myself.
Site Explorer Link Count Badge: Officially called the Site Explorer Badge it is an original idea by Yahoo to give users the ability to display how many links they have on their website. This link count is taken straight out of the Site Explorer.
Delete URLs: You can delete your URL from the Yahoo Site Explorer and it will be deleted from Yahoo’s index. Though easily achieved through the robots.txt file this is an easier way to get your website removed from the Yahoo index fast.
The Rest Of The New Yahoo Site Explorer Features:
- More than 25 sitemaps
- better labeling of TSV files
- Site explorer should identify itself in the user agent string
- https / ssl
- Wait 1 day? (Speed of authentication)

MyBlogLog the new favorite blogging tool has been bought by Yahoo for “a little over $10 Million Dollars”. It’s shame because I think it’s worth a lot more than that simply becuase of the value of it’s tracking service.
Think about it a big advertiser like Yahoo will certainly take advantage of the 45,000 thousand or so communities to better understand what blogs work and why they work better than others. Not to mention free publicity through the widgets they offer. Rarely do I see a blog without a MyBlogLog widget.
In my opinion this fast growing new blogging trend should have sold for more than at least $50 Million. It just keeps growing and the beauty about is that individual users can join the communities they read. So not only can it collect information about the blogs themselves but also of the users of that certain blog.
I myself registered at MyBlogLog the first time I found it finding a good tool that got seo news recognized fairly quickly. The seo news blog community also is also growing daily and certainly I’ve also participated by joining the communities which I frequent.

Yahoo has finally done something new in terms of features and usability. One of the new things for was getting support for it’s new product fairly from the get go. Opera mini and Opera Mobile will both be using this new search. The new mobile search is called “oneSearch” because apparently there’s is nothing else like it.

The multi-search includes answers for business listings, movies, sports, news, events, celebrity gossip, stock/finance information, and more. For example a search for a city will bring up weather information, traffic information, and local news.
Even though you have to download Yahoo software on your phone before you can use this new mobile search, it is still a step up from the competition. With the rumored making of the exclusive Google Mobile Phone it comes as no surprise that Yahoo moves into the mobile phone business.

Google stocks were a hot thing for the 2006 year but what about 2007? It appears history shows us that Google’s money ride is about to crash and blow up on it’s many hopeful investors. Why? Two simple reasons why next year, 2007, Google stocks will be a thing of the past: One is the history of stocks another is the competition.
History of high performing stocks has taught us that for stocks to maintain a high they have to continually increase. With Google’$9.3 billion in trailing revenues means every percent increase would require more than $93 million in incremental revenue. That with the added factor factor that this gain must be accompanied by a constant dominance of in all other operations. With many of revenues due to the ever changing field of advertising it looks even more grim for good ol papa Google to deliver. Like the giants in TV advertising like CBS, ABC, and Fox ad sales seem to decline after hitting a high. With Google reaching now into TV advertising itself it appears to want to branch out and maintain it’s leading position.
The second reason would be of course the competition of the likes of those such as Microsoft or Yahoo. This triangle of competition has been going on for quite some time now and it’s a matter of time before Microsoft finds a trump card and surpasses Google, as well know Microsoft for playing the “underdog” and suddenly rise to take over. Not to mention the fact that Microsoft has far more resources than Google.
This all culminates to come to one point and one strong point the word GOOG will mean less and less in the coming year’s quarters. Maybe it’ll mean the end of the giant g itself. One thing I learned from my history teacher, except the fact that if you are bald you should just accept it instead of combing over hair from well let’s keep to the subject, is the fact that history repeats itself. And a factor such as competition no matter how small may turn out to be the biggest achilles’ heel you’ve overlooked.
