Yahoo Publisher Network offers $50 Paypal Payments

Yahoo just announced that they lowered the minimum payment for their publisher network to $50 USD and you can get your money quickly using your paypal account. This is just another “scream” to attract more publishers since their advertiser network is growing quite well as most big advertisers go around the google-yahoo-msn network for more profitable return of investment on their ad campaigns.

We noticed that Yahoo is trying to attract more advertisers and publishers as we received a phone call from their search marketing department describing us all the yahoo sponsored search options as well as the content network. Yahoo is trying to grow and survive the Google giant especially nowadays where Google Maps and Local listings are prefer ed than Yahoo’s.

From advertiser point of view Yahoo increased their potential, and again from Publisher point of view the acceptance of paypal payments will increase the interest between publishers and will allow small website owners to join their network.

Lets see what’s going to happen.

Aviva Directory offers 15 days promo coupon $20 off regular listings

I just received the Aviva Directory newsletter where they are offering special promotion $20 dollars off from July 15 to July 31 if you use special coupon code “Umdum“. This makes regular listings to be $29.95 with the coupon which is a really nice deal!

For the people that don’t know much about Aviva Directory, I’d like to say that this is one of the best directories on the Internet, based on quality and page rank. Based on simple SEO estimations, a listing in Aviva Directory can bring you so much pr and link juice than about 200 regular directories and counting. The is mainly due to the large number of backlinks those guys invested in and the strong pagerank on numerous inner pages that can be easily passed on your listings.

I don’t want to advertise them too much, but I’m really happy with them and I can most definitely say that they are one of the 10 directories I have paid listings. Also here I can put some criticism on the Yahoo directory which is the most pricey directory I’ve ever enlisted in with its $250 annual listings and the fact that I didn’t get even one hit from that directory for the 6 months I have listing with them. I guess the large number of links and my deep page listing is making it the most unprofitable investment I ever had and they only thing I can say in my defence why I have a listing there is only prestige. (but in reality who cares about prestige when its all about visitors and link juice).

Also I’d like to say that Aviva is one of the few directories that I know that receives huge amounts of actual visitors. This makes aviva very interesting and cost effective way to get both good pr and few visitors for the price of $30.

I just wanted to share this and help you enjoy this great benefit since I’m on my way to list my huge array of niche websites.

To get your listings click on the banner on the right or click here

Cheers,

Venetsian.

Stumbleupon can get your AdSense Account Banned for Invalid Impressions Fraud

I know this sounds very hard to believe but it is a real fact and many webmasters that practice Stumbling had felt it. The wost thing about that is that most of them didn’t really realized what they were doing wrong as their visitors did not do any click frauds, and therefore there was no reason for their account to be banned. In reality Click Frauds are one of the many CPC frauds on the Internet.

The similarity in all banned from AdSense webmasters was that they all used massive stumbling as primary traffic source. Also and Google sent them email stating that they ban/terminate their accounts for invalid ad impressions, but didn’t explain what exactly that meant bu that, and actually I didn’t know also until I found one book on per-per-click marketing book where the I stumbled across the term invalid impressions fraud

A large number of impressions, without the accompanying click on your ad - if you notice that there are a lot of impressions (views) of your advertising, this could indicate impression fraud. Impression fraud is artificial inflation of your ad impressions that may cause your ad click-through rates to drop below the Google minimum and your ad will be disabled. Until you realize this, your competitors have free reign to use your keywords, sometimes at bargain prices. As well, your relevancy ratings for search engines may drop as they record numerous impressions, but no interest shown via visits to your website, which could lead to a shutdown of your campaign.

source: Pay-Per-Click Search Engine Marketing Handbook

Most of the AdSense Publishers know that Stumblers generally don’t click on ads and this somehow generates very low CTR. Depending on the ads generated to your particular page and the number of AD units, you might get stuck in a situation where your CTR goes below the required minimum and therefore you’re unintentionally making impression fraud. In order to protect their publishers (actually to keep their ads active so that they continue to pay) AdSense might send you the “you’re banned” email that can get you in really bad situation.

If you do get this email, I strongly suggest that you contact AdSense and tell them that you will lower the number of your ad units and ask them to give you some test period where you can increase your CTR above the minimum. Actually most publisher are afraid to get banned for high CTR, but in this case having low CTR is also a big problem.

Also I strongly suggest that if you have very low CTR (lower than 1%) you should try to change/optimize your pages in order to show highly relative AdSense ads or lower the ad units so that you CTR can go higher. This is common need for more clicks, but still some type of content don’t really generate too many clickers and in this case we must artificially keep the CTR higher due to this impressions fraud problem.

Please note that I don’t really have that much experience with impressions frauds since all my websites have average CTR between 5%-30% and I never got below the 1% mark. If you know more on that topic, please consider sharing it with us and helping fellow webmasters.

Search Engine Penalization is Real

I just stumbled on one very interesting article in the Forbes Magazine titled The Saboteurs Of Search which I find quite interesting because it somehow answers some serious SEO questions about spam and possible penalization for your or competitor website.

Matt Cutts, a senior software engineer for Google, says that piling links onto a competitor’s site to reduce its search rank isn’t impossible, but it’s extremely difficult. “We try to be mindful of when a technique can be abused and make our algorithm robust against it,” he says. “I won’t go out on a limb and say it’s impossible. But Google bowling is much more inviting as an idea than it is in practice.”

Cutts also points out that any potential for sabotage exists across all search engines. “It really should be called ’search engine bowling,’ ” he says.

I’m not sure what this will lead, but most definitely will make some people try cyber terrorism and buy some bad neighbourhood links for their competition and see what happens. I already stumbled across few threads on DP where people were looking for adult related links and similar to point to their competitors.

Now Matt doesn’t really say what will be the punishment and how harsh it will be especially after the fact that they know this technique can be used on competitors and is a way of cyber terrorism, but we can most definitely observe and listen to what’s happening around us and if there is a way to penalize I bet that eventually we will hear someone screaming that lost ranking for no particular reason or got his competitor out.

In reality black hat seo offers few very interesting techniques that can be easily done to manipulate and punish small to medium sized websites. The easiest way is the direct duplicate content penalty where the website that has highest pagerank is assumed to be the origin of the content and basically if you have higher pr website you can just copy the content of your targeted website or at least the main pages that are their landing pages, and sit back and watch their rankings drop. The problem with that trick is that you will be clearly identified as the attacker, but if you got your tracks covered with privacy and pay pal payments there is no problem. (I’m not giving you ideas).

Search Engine Link Spam is clearly the second case, and everyone know that if they participate in link farming projects they can get penalized.

I’ll bring updates as they come.

Statistics on Search Engines and their users

I suppose that’s not a headline story, but I stumbled across some very interesting research data and I thought that it would be really nice to share it with you and confirm with statistics the fact that internet users are getting smarter and smarter and they are heavily exploiting search engine functions to better navigate their way in finding their desired information. Also as we’ve expected the growth in popularity is quite impressive and you must check it out.

Since the dot com boom (1994-1996) the internet is growing quite rapidly both in content (the number of websites) and in the same time in the number of it’s users, somehow becoming a way of life. I’m not going to exaggerate but yes we live in the Internet Era where massive amounts of information can be easily accessed and only with a single click you can find what you are looking for. This incredible network of information enables people to easily access virtually unlimited collection of shared user data on large variety of topics (in exception are only few countries like china that don’t have human rights and similar, but that’s only when politics collides with our freedom of information flow) and this improves our level of knowledge in particular interests quite drastically due to our new ability to find numerous documents without even leaving our home. In the recent past, libraries, newspapers and magazines were the only places where people can find information on events and discoveries but now things are so different and so easy for all of us. This ability to gather more and more information virtually effortless in such a short period of time enables humans to maximize their learning abilities and to obtain more and more knowledge n their particular field of interest.

North America has the largest percentage of internet users in the whole world mainly due to the fact that Internet for first time was developed in the US in early 1962 as a Government/Military Project for linking computers around the states in case of War, but quickly reshaped as very useful way to transfer information between two points. The first developers of the ARPNET project (the first name of the internet) were MIT and NPL, and they are considered to be the inventors of the internet. Actually our common understanding of the internet came far later in 1980 when students began exploiting the possibility to “host” public chat rooms and share information between each other by opening file servers. This quickly became popular and in early 1990’s the first public websites were born.

People quickly discovered the potential of the web and started sharing more and more information thus making the internet grow exponentially. Nowadays the internet demands are so high that about 69% of all North Americans use the internet at least once a month.

A Canadian media and search engine advertising company called SKOOIZ just released some fresh research data on the internet usage and behavior of French Canadians. In March 2007 they made a survey on 1272 Canadians and shared their research results with us.

What kind of search engines people are using?

Be prepared to be amazed! And the winner for French Canadian Search Engine is…. Google with 80%, followed by Yahoo 3.6% and MSN with 2.5%. That’s mainly due to the fact that there are not that many Multilanguage search engines. The US market on the other hand is a bit more diverse as it has few more search engines but still Google has about 44%, Yahoo with 28.7% and MSN with 12.5% of the total search queries which is still not bad.

How Many Keywords people use to form their Search Query?

I guess Canadians like all other people are somehow aware of the massive amount of information stored/index by search engines and know that the best way to find what they are looking for is to use more than one keyword for effectiveness. The French Canadians for example are quite intelligent searchers and only 10% of them have the time to look in the broad search results of single keyword queries. Fortunately the rest of the interviewed people were quite skillful as 50% used two keywords, 30% used three keywords and 10% four or more keywords.

This clearly shows that people are going for the long tail keywords and optimizing only for one and two words is merely not enough. Also optimizing for the low end long tail keywords is still quite easier and you can rank on top with merely no efforts at all. Few years back most people were going for few words because there was no competition, but now within those huge amounts of data it’s quite better to go for the long tail and hit your share of the 40% in the beginning and later on as you grow then target the high end keywords.

The new internet users use advanced search engine queries

The interesting thing that got my attention is the large number of people that use advanced search queries. About 50% of all French Canadian internet users use the advanced search operators for to optimize their queries from which 10% do that on regular basis. That explains the fair number of search engine queries our SEO Website CMS logged that containing logical operators in them, so its not only French Canadians that use that functionality. I guess this new trend spreads traffic even further and now even small websites have the chance to get visited if they contain that particular set of positive and negative keywords, but that’s really very rare cases.

How many result pages internet users view?

Everybody knows that the top 3 results get 60% of all the traffic and each lower ranking decreases your possible hits enormously. Thus being on the second page (lower than 10 positions) is almost like you don’t exist. French Canadians are no different. If not able to find what they are looking for, about 15% don’t even bother to go to the second page and immediately run a new query. Then about 40% of the people that bothered to view the second page simply give up and run new query. We can note that the funnel shaped traffic is mostly for the top 5 listings and the rest gets only a few clicks. In this sense, I’ve received so many responses from my clients that when they got to the top 3 their world turned around and from a keyword that they rarely got traffic is now their biggest hit. This happens in highly relevant keywords where people find what they are looking for on the top 3-5 results and don’t even bother to go beyond that. In such situations if you are you’re ranked on position N:7-8 even highly searched keywords and you might not get more than few clicks because visitors are happy with what they found on the listings above yours.

How many people click on Sponsored Search Engine Ads?

I’ve been trying to explain that thing to most of my clients, but it’s really hard for them to understand the benefits of organic search engine listings compared to pay-per whatever advertising. The Canadian research data clearly shows that only about 2%-5% of all users click often on advertisements and about 25% state that they “sometimes” click them. On the other hand 25% say that they never click on ads and about 50% very rarely clicks on ads. This statistics explain why a lot of advertisers get thousands ad impressions with few to no clicks at all for even great looking, highly relevant advertisement.

Organic Search Engine listings are the best advertising way as it get about 80-90% of all traffic (even more than that) and if you’re ranking good you will receive so much free traffic for the small fee of few hundred dollars in Website Search Engine Optimization expenses. It would be dumb to spend so much money on Pay-Per-Click when for quite less than that you can get free organic listings.

What Age Groups are general internet visitors?

The internet users are generally young people. The largest portion of the French Canadian internet users form 25% of all users and are between 25-34 years old, followed by 19% for 45-54. The rest is about 15% youngsters 18-24, 10% teenagers, 12% for 55 and older and on last place 9.7% people of age 35-44. This shows that large portion of website visitors are from 25 to 54 years old. This can be correlated to the income and education data shown below.

How much internet users earn?

The statistics show that the largest portion of internet users (about 30%) earn in the ranges between 30k-50k per year. Then about 15% earn about 50k-70k and again 15% above 70k. This most definitely means that internet users have some good money to spend online (proven by the greatly increasing online sales statistics with each year), so it won’t be a bad idea to start your own internet store (if you don’t already have one).

How often do you use the internet?

If it was me, I was going to say all the time, but in this case 87% of the interviewed French Canadians use it every day. This huge percentage in combination with some simple predictions on the past and current internet use can predict that with each passing year the number internet users is going to almost double and therefore user traffic is going to increase dramatically. We are talking about some really huge numbers that will be quite normal in few years, so start building up websites, optimize, build links and hit the wave as hard as you can.

For more information on their findings please see their report here and you can also discuss that in their official blog here. If you are interested in getting affordable search engine optimization services for you website contact me via the contact form or call 646-536-9268

The New Directory Era

This weekend Google finally updated the backlink count in their Webmaster’s Center (this section was not updated for more than two months). Plenty of new links showed up from our massive link building campaigns, but something really interesting popped out – Low Quality web directory links, spammy looking links and site-wide links on irrelevant websites do not count any more as backlinks and were not longer listed there. I also checked with Yahoo Site explorer and found out that the situation with Yahoo is almost the same.

The last few months search engines took serious measures against Search Engine Spam and one of the most important changes in their algorithms was to find and neglect/discount any spammish looking links. The amazing thing is that most web directories that accept all sorts of links got labeled “not trustworthy” and their listings are no longer counted as backlinks. This was somehow expected in the webmaster world because there is no way to link to junk sites and not being labeled junk site.

This event really struck most of my websites due to the mere fact that my base strategy when releasing new website was to get 1,000 directory submissions for each of them and therefore give them the initial boost both in backlink count and also

pagerank. Now, with those changes in mind, this strategy is not that profitable and requires some drastic changes.

Here I’d like to say that search engine spiders still follow those links, because the spider activity on those sites did not decrease and we can see few hundred visits daily from googlebot on a website with only few pages which is actually a good thing and helps new content get indexed faster, so it’s not a total waste of money to do directory submissions.

Which Directories are now valuable with those changes?

Few months back I was never ever going to say such thing, but yes Paid Directories are the New Directory Era. That is mainly due to few very important characteristics that make them extremely valuable and somehow trustworthy:

  • Paid directories usually contain only few links, and those links are with some relatively good quality. Most webmasters pay for link only if they have some good content site and know that they will profit out of their website, therefore their quality is quite better than regular MFA’s and other crappy websites.
  • Most of the Paid Directories make their own review text that is placed on the listing page and this Unique content helps directories actually rank and therefore pass greater value to your links.
  • In fairly large percentage, paid directories invest a lot of money in building backlinks for their onw directory and therefore gain better trust rank for themselves. This actually passes quite a lot PR to your listings compared to even high quality free directories. Yes high quality free directories will still keep their good trust ranks and will still have value as backlinks, but we all know that getting a DMOZ listing is a one in a million chance.

So which paid directory I should submit in?

Choosing the best paid directory to submit your listings is not that hard thing to do, but yes it also requires few additional steps then just add the links. Basically the most important characteristics that form their quality are the following:

  • Base (homepage) Page Rank – must be better or pr 5
  • Number of incoming backlinks – visit yahoo.com and type site:www.domain.com and then click on inlinks. That will give you fairly accurate number of links pointing to that directory. Any number larger than 100,000 is good and should be considered as reliable directory. Make sure you are looking at the INLINKS not the site pages, because site pages are different story and not that valuable.
  • Number of Outgoing links aka listings – try to browse few categories and if you don’t see tons of listings in the most popular ones and only a few in the smaller categories then the directory is good. If they have a lot of listings this might mean that they might be linking to bad sites and that won’t do you any good, so good neighborhood is what really matters here.

I have one very simple formula for estimating the value of one directory if I want to pay for it – just divide the number of links to the number of pages that they have (from site:www.domain.com command). The number that you end up with is what I call Link Juice Value and the higher it is the better.

Any suggested good directories?

Yep, I’ll build you a list very soon (check this post for updates), but the first one that comes to my mind is www.avivadirectory.com – a really nice directory that charges quite a lot ($49.95) but it’s worth the money since aviva has more than half a million backlinks and only few hundred links. The list is sorted by Link Juice starting from the highest to lowest:

SEO proves that Google is using extensive User Behavioral Data as Website Ranking Criteria

Google Tracks User Behavior as low priority Website Ranking Criteria

I’ve been trying to convince webmasters for so long that Google is very smart and they are tracking user activity on the search index and also on your web pages, but in most cases people laughed at me and said that’s stupid. Guess what, finally a SEO did close monitored experiment and proved that this is true!

First lets start a bit with some background information that I guess some of you already know (whoever reads my blogs and rants on SEO). I’ve posted numerous articles and threads on different forums asking people what they think about Google’s Search Results and especially on the “onClick” javascript that monitors what Users are clicking on the search results page. In most cases people laughed at me saying that if Google is tracking this activity then a lot of people will be able to alter the Search Results and push-up or pull-down websites intentionally. Finally I got the proof on this!

The second thing that really bothered quite a lot, and also being widely discussed on different forums, is the fact that suddenly few years ago Google started offering Free Urchin Analytics Accounts which previously were paid around $300-$400 per year per website! As a businessman I really got amazed how Google suddenly became so generous and offered those really pricy services for free, and I started suspecting that they are doing some serious data mining with all that information collected. Guess what, I proved to be right, Google indeed monitors analytics accounts and website performance and its even adjusting website rankings based on that data!

The third thing that I was slapping in everybody’s faces was my readings from the latest Google Patent Application where I even labeled “VERY IMPORTANT :: USER BEHAVIOUR” in my analysis. Read the whole Google Patent text here.

Now let’s say what the proof is and what was done exactly.

Randy from 1st Rankings, just released the official data on his experiments on Google and User Behaviour Data in Rankings. He conducted two very interesting experiments which clearly show what I was trying to explain to all of you so many times.

Experiment 1 – tracking user activity without Google Analytics

Randy set up two closely monitored websites and asked 100 volunteers to search in Google for some pre-defined keywords and click on the website, then stay in the website for some time and then close the browser without returning in Google. This scenario is supposed to show Google that the User is looking for quality website in those specific keywords and the choice they did (clicking on that website) was that this website is what they were looking for. The situation is that when use clicks on a website from the search results, and then stays for some period, this period can determine how relevant this website was to the specific query keywords. If the period is short and the User returns and clicks other website, this most probably means that he/she did not found what they were looking for and the keep on looking until they find it. On the other hand, if they find a website and spend a lot of time there and even exit the site (not returning back to Google) then this most probably signals that they have found what they were looking for, and in such case, Google can award this website by increasing its ranking. This is often done when the top results are irrelevant to the query and Google automatically corrects its rankings based on the user’s judgment.

He set up two websites, one in non-popular niche and asked those 100 volunteers to click and the website, stay there for few minutes and close the browser. This signals Google that the quality is high and this website is awarded with more attention. His experiment showed that in about week, this website started moving up from position 10 to number 2.

Also he tested his theory in more competitive niche, using the same strategy, but it proved to be quite useless because the changing factor was negligible.

Experiment 2 – Tracking websites using Google Analytics

This experiment was very similar technique to the previous one, but this time he has all the websites participating being monitored by Google Analytics. Also in this scenario, he asked the volunteers to act like they are reading the website and browse throughout the website for some period.

The results proved to be astonishing. In about week and a half, the website popped up from position 80 to about 33 and maybe even more if they continued the experiment (the time frame for the experiment was exactly two weeks). This clearly shows that Google is indeed using the data collected from Google Analytics and adjusts its ranking accordingly to the User Behavior. When users find what they are looking for, the bounce rate decreases, and the time spent on the website increases. This is extremely valuable information to Google, as it’s the primary website quality characteristic.

What do we learn from that

  • Yes, Google is monitoring User Behavior and that can adjust your rankings. The user behavior importance for ranking is very low, but still it is considered.
  • Google monitors clicks on the Search Results page, and therefore Website Ranking Checking Software can hurt your rankings or at least won’t help.
  • Google does monitor your Analytics account and if you have high bounce rate (mostly for MFA and irrelevant websites) you might get punished and loose some ranking positions. If your bounce rate is higher than 75% you should remove Analytics from that website or try to troubleshoot it and lower that rate.
  • More content like articles and news on your website can help you increase the time spent and this can help you rank better for both SEO and Google user behavior tracking purposes.
  • Now its really debatable if you should even use Analytics, but I believe it’s a fair price to pay for monitoring your websites so if you have good content, you should not worry about that.
  • The recent acquisition of FeedBurner from Google might lead to another data mining situation when Google might start looking at your readers, but I guess that will be used in future upgrades on their algorithms.

Google can and maybe already is looking at your website quality using these monitoring techniques to price your AdSense ads and that might hurt a bit Advertising Publishers and MFA’s. We already felt last week’s changes in PPC prices based on web quality both from the Yahoo Publisher Network and Google AdSense. I’ll write on that a bit later when I gather more info.

Feel free to leave your comments on this post.

Yahoo blows up Email Storage Quota

I’ve just learned that Yahoo finally stopped asking for more money on additional storage space and set it up free Unlimited Email. That’s really good news since I’ve been paying for additional gigabyte storage space the last four years and that was my primary reason why I switched to Gmail instead. Actually the primary reason was the huge amount of spam that I receive in Yahoo due to my numerous industry newsletter subscription (that I never read) and I get like 500-600 new emails every day and its so hard to figure out which ones are important and which ones are junk so I’ve switched and started all over with Gmail.

I suppose I’m not alone is switching to alternative free email providers and Yahoo is still loosing accounts. Actually I believe that the most important event that helped them set unlimited storage quota is that they recently got some new mass storage servers and they are off the limit. Also If you haven’t already noticed that a week ago Yahoo almost doubled its search index due to the same reason.

Yahoo, read my lips - “That’s the way to attract people like me” :-)

AdSense Click Bombing - a Real Threat

AdSense Click Bombing is a Real Danger and you can be its next victimUntil recently I was almost convinced the AdSense Click Bombing was a thing of the past, but earlier today I happened to be its victim, and I merely lost my AdSense account. Fortunately, I was able to react quickly and my account was restored, but still I lost more than 24 hours of AdSense income while my account was locked.

First lets explain what AdSense Click Bombing is. Click Bombing is exactly what it sounds like. A malicious user (most probably a webmaster who is really pissed at you for some reason) clicks hundreds of times on your AdSense Advertisements in order to produce large number fraudulent clicks. In almost all cases this large number of clicks by a single user (ip) rise flag for Click Spam in the AdSense System and they automatically LOCK your account. If somehow it is determined that this user had access to your AdSense account aka knows the password and has logged in your account from the same computer, it is assumed that this might be you or a person that is related to you and your accounts get BANNED. Also in most cases when this attack occurs and you are not aware and you don’t react properly, your account also can get banned and you won’t even know what struck you.

My recent survey showed that a large number of AdSense experienced the effect of AdSense Click Bombing on their websites. The people that was able to react to that and quickly file report with AdSense that they found suspicious behavior on their ads (which is really easy to see when you get the channel with 200%-300% CRT and a massive amount of clicks) you can save your account from being banned and was restored within few hours or so after the attack stopped, but others who did not monitor their AdSense account activity close enough got their accounts banned for life. Some of the people that got their accounts banned also informed me that they were able to restore their accounts later on by providing a lot of information to the AdSense team showing access logs and etc which showed that they are not guilty.

In any case reporting to the AdSense Team is the first and most important thing that you can do when you see that somebody is trying to Click Bomb you AdSense ads. In such moments you should file up a report on the HELP section of your AdSense account and highlight the fact that somebody is Click Bombing you and you have nothing to do with this and therefore as a honest AdSense publisher you’re reporting it. When you do that, the second thing you should do is to temporarily remove the ads from the attacked website and therefore prevent any further click bombing. Note that AdSense will not unlock your account until the attack stops so its better to remove the ads from the attacked website and keep them on other websites that are not being offended (at least minimize your loses for the day).

If you react quickly the chances that you won’t get banned and your account will be restored to full functionality is extremely high and therefore it’s advisable to be done as quickly as possible.

I asked few experienced AdSense publishers for advices on how to protect myself from AdSense Click Bombing and they all said that if you were or are a victim of Click Bombing then its strongly advisable that one should use Click Fraud Prevention Software. Fortunately for us, there is this AdLogger Script that seems to be able to prevent some major publisher catastrophes and also as a bonus logs all click monitoring on all the links in your website ( BTW this can help you improve the navigation quite a lot if you monitor what’s happening on your website with that script). If you know that you can get hit with something like that it won’t hurt to install it, just to be on the safe side. Its free and its really easy to install. You can download the script from here.

Other than that, just try not to piss of anybody with short temper and this will help you better than any click prevention software because its so easy for a malicious user to copy your publisher id and put it on his own page or even on his computer (where you can’t use any click prevention software) and do the bombing there, so there is no situation where you can cover all possibilities and say that you’re not vulnerable to such attacks.

In all cases, AdSense Click Bombing is a real danger and everyone of us can get hit by it without any warning. The best thing is to monitor what’s happening with your ads every day at least twice so you’ll be aware if something strikes you or not. Don’t think that you can be attacked only in situation where you DID something, because it is possible that someone (most possible competitor) that you don’t even know about can do it on you and try to get your account suspended or even banned. This problem is real and currently we don’t have a good way to fight with it and that’s really sad. One can easily Terrorize your network and we can’t do anything about it. I just hope the AdSense team will find a good way to help publishers fight with this problem.

UpDate: I just got that responce from the AdSense team. Its recomending exactly what I said but still It would be best to see it yourselves.

Hi Venetsian,

Thanks for letting us know about the recent activity on your site. Rest assured that we’ve noted your input, and we’ll continue to monitor the situation closely.

I understand that you’re concerned about keeping your account in good standing, and that you’d like more information about the recent activity on your account. Because we have a need to protect our proprietary detection systems, we’re unable to provide you with any details about your account activity. However, I’ve provided a couple of solutions below
that I hope address your concerns.

1. We encourage you to regularly review your site’s traffic logs for any suspicious activity and notify us of your findings at
https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/request.py?contact=invalid_clicks_contact. Please note that there’s no need to alert us of all instances of invalid activity, so we ask that you use your best judgment when reporting unusual activity on your site.

If you need help logging the traffic on your site, we recommend trying these Google search terms:

Webmaster resources
Website tracking and logging
Site traffic analysis

2. You can find tips and guidelines for keeping your account in good standing by visiting our Help Center at
https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=23921.

3. Another good way to ensure that you don’t generate invalid clicks is by reviewing and remaining in compliance with our Terms and Conditions and program policies:

https://www.google.com/adsense/terms
https://www.google.com/adsense/policies

I realize that you may have questions about what Google is doing to prevent invalid click activity. You should know that our specialists carefully monitor clicks and impressions on Google ads in order to protect your interests as well as those of our advertisers. To do this, we use both automated systems and human reviews, analyzing all ad clicks for any invalid click activity that may artificially drive up an advertiser’s costs or a publisher’s earnings. Please note that according to our Terms and Conditions, Google will use its sole discretion when determining instances of invalid clicks.

Lastly, I wanted to let you know that in the future, we may adjust your payment for any days during which invalid clicks occurred. This helps us protect the integrity of the AdSense program and properly credit advertisers for any invalid activity.

Thanks for your cooperation. We look forward to working with you in the future.

For additional questions, I’d encourage you to visit the AdSense Help Center (http://www.google.com/adsense_help), our complete resource center for all AdSense topics. Alternatively, feel free to post your question onthe forum just for AdSense publishers: the AdSense Help Group (http://groups.google.com/group/adsense-help).
