I was checking my gmail email today when out of nowhere in my inbox there was a spam email promising the iPhone. Now gmail is usually pretty good with blocking spam email, which is why I switched to it, but this time it appears gmail has failed me.
If you are not familiar with the iPhone, it’s Apple’s new cell phone that was announced Tuesday at the CES show. After it’s big announcement Wednesday Cisco announced a lawsuit against Apple for taking their trademark iPhone. Even though they were in talks on the trademark issue Apple went ahead and announced it anyways, I am guessing to try and increase their stocks in the first quarter. And it worked miraculously.
It took email spammers two days to make spam for a product that’s still not even available. This is one of those typical fill out these offers and we’ll send you the check to cover the cost deals, so they are probably not even worried about offering the product. Still it amazes me how quick these people were able to start spamming for a new product.
