A couple of days after google trademarks their SERPs design they release a new specialize search for patents. Here a first look, pictures included, at the new features and what you can expect from this new search at google.
First things first it looks like any search results from google as always but with a twist. When you actually click on a result you are taken to a new google page that looks strikingly similar to that of the google book search.
In the left cornet we see an actual image of the patent and when you click on it you get a bigger picture of it with your search keywords highlighted in yellow. But all the good information is at the starting screen.

Right in the middle is an abstract, which is a sort of a summary, then under we have in order: patent number, filing date, issue date, inventors, assignee, primary examiner, attorneys, current US classification, and current International classification.
Under that you have a search box where you can search the patent this time pages of the patent are searched for your keywords. And under that one you have citations for the patent and the reference.
Next we have a claims box with all the claims on the patent listed for you.
And at last we have at the end a listing of the actual pages with the drawings:
And that’s all in the looks of the patent search. Now there are 7 millions searche patent in the database so far or at least google claims. They also had a feature where you could print the patent but they put that on hold because of some problems.
I think this thing is going to fly. Especial for people who have competing companies and all that and not mention the amount of inventors on the web these days. Everyone wants to come up with that hot new something. So with this new search they can make sure no one beat to the punch line. But traffic wise just like any google specialized feature it’s not really going to take google anywhere.
Thank You
