Finally after outcries in the SEO community about the restrictions that Yahoo places on listings by having them display their Yahoo Directory title and description instead of going with meta tags on the website.Yahoo has decided to support the NOYDIR and the NOODP meta tags. This is great because many people were refraining from submitting their sites to the Yahoo directory just in fear that it will freeze their SERPs in Yahoo forever.
Being an avid fan of Yahoo I couldn’t believe they had this feature still running. In the SEO world many people had gotten used to ignoring the Yahoo Directory when it comes to doing link building for any website.
There are two forms to tell Yahoo to not use the default Yahoo Dir. description and title:
<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOYDIR">
or
<META NAME="Slurp" CONTENT="NOYDIR">
I suspect this is going to increase Yahoo Dir. submissions for a while now so if you are thinking of submitting for the free option think again.

Even with the introduction of satellite phones every one has get the access to internet but still he does not have enough sources to information. Here are some tips to find the best hosting for your website. First of all check the uptime guarantee of its data center. If you are going for dedicated hosting, make sure that he is providing you the entire server and not a part of that server. Secondly check the search engine advertising services of that company. I survive from a vicious caugh to awaken to some good news. It seems Digg has decided to unban many domains that were unjoustly banned which includes SEO news blog. SEO news blog was banned on December 14th 2006 now two months and some later I am unbanned.
Pronet to my best knowledge was first to discover that we were unbanned and published a list of the unbanned domains so far. Also I’d like to thank Skitzzo from seorefugee and Muhammad Saleem from pronet for e-mailing me and letting me know.
Now the reason for these unbannings stems from digg updating it’s algorithm and has taken control of what they call “grouping” behavior or where groups of Digg accounts are controlled or effectively controlled by a person or group and can push stories to the home page or get them buried. This was what happened to anything remotely close to having to do with SEO on Digg.
I’d like to thank the guys at digg for taking care of this and also the SEO community for banding together and not staying quiet while this was going on.
Thank You

The reason I haven’t been posting lately is because I caught a cold last Wednesday. I tried to sort of ignore it and chuck some cough medicine but that just made it worse. So here I am asking for your prayers as I am recovering but still feeling very much woozy from, this whole ordeal. I reached a high temperature of 103 while under and suffered from a constant hacking cough.
But thank God I am getting better and plan on getting back on tract with things here. Also some good news I found out this morning is the fact that seo news blog has been unbanned by digg. I’ll post something about that. Thanks to the guys that emailed me and I didn’t mean to look like I ignored you guys.

Yesterday Randy or randfish of SEOmoz qrote an article on SEOmoz entitled “What Separates Search Marketing Novices From Experts“. Basically outlining the different kind of ingredients one needs in order to be considered an expert in the SEO field. Stoney deGeyter of Search Engine Guide had something to say about that article and how it insults what truly makes a SEO professional an expert. He backs up his arguments and seems to be convinced. From Stoney’s article; When Good SEO’s Go Elite:
Unfortunately, instead of providing us with a real list of what truly separates the men and women from the boys and girls of SEO, Rand only exposes himself as an SEO elite out of touch with the business of SEO.
In Rand’s article he outlined five requirements that gave a SEM novice the expert title:
- Brand Level of Experience
- Contacts and Relationships
- Holistic Approach
- Accepts the Right Projects
- Sixth Sense for Rankings
Except for that sixth sense Stoney disagrees with all of those and points out that Rand has lost touch with the actual work of SEO. Instead being used to speaking at conferences about things that he himself hasn’t done in a long time. It’s going to be interesting to see if Rand can back up his statements with actual evidence in order to disapprove Stoney’s accusations.

In today’s hustle and bustle world it’s often hard to find a trustworthy place to go for SEO news. Now mind you this isn’t a self promotional post, this is just an easy way for you to find if the that new thing you heard about SEO is right. Many blogs and websites offer these new magical ways to get ahead of competition in SERPs, but are they true? I have to admit it’s hard to figure out the truth from the blatant lies told to gain popularity. In fact these days it’s damn near impossible. But you know what? After carefully thinking about it for a while I’ve found an easy five step process to figuring out what counts and what deserves to be ignored.
Use Common Sense
Using common sense to figure out if the source is true is the first thing you should do. Life demands common sense so why not in the SEO world? Make sure it’s nothing but blabber that seems too good to be true. And if for some weird reason you’ve lost your common sense try thinking about what would happen if everyone knew about it. Wouldn’t it have lit the web by fire and gotten so much popularity from good old reliable blogosphere?
Is It Regarded as an Authoritative Source?
This is the next question you need to ask yourself. In my SEO top ten leaders I list trustworthy people in the SEO World, every authoritative website or person is always careful as to what he or she publishes or what they pass on. This helps keep them honest and makes sure they won’t publish any bogus information. These kind of leaders are the ones that usually have the fresh information and happen to keep up with any new trends that may help their readers. As an added bonus they all usually have blogs that they keep updated almost daily check out my blogroll on the homepage of SEO News Blog for a compilation of most authoritative websites in the SEO world.
Check The Links To It
Checking the links to the specific page or post is another way to make sure it’s being supported by authoritative websites. A simple link search in google for the specific page will show you who linked to that information. For example search link: for the world renowned SEO checklist and you can see how many authoritative websites that linked to it. If the information is too long to attract links yet try waiting a while if it’s that great it should catch on pretty quick.
Ask Someone or Post in a Forum
Forums are a great way for people to meet and talk to each other. Both in the real world and on the Internet. There are many forums listed in my blogroll and a simple search for SEO forum on Google will turn up pretty good results. But you can just skip all that and head on over to webmaster world a popular and guaranteed place to get your answers on many topics especially SEO. So don’t be shy to link to the information and ask if anyone can confirm this. usually a trustworthy user will pop in and either deny or agree with the news. It’s pretty easy this way and puts the new information at the mercy of the great public.
Grave Danger You Are In. If impatient You Are - Yoda
Yoda, though imaginary, is sometimes a great character to quote. Patience is truly a virtue. If you wait long enough the topic will grab others attention and bring you what you wanted; that is confirmation. Even though most people always talk about grabbing at opportunity fast it pays to wait sometimes. These kind of people are the same ones who may but into the new hype. Like the y2k bug or many other exemples of peopel who spent their life’s savings thinking it was a wise choice only to be proven wrong later.
Conclusion…
In writing this post I hope to make you not just a wiser person but a wiser SEO. This advice can essentially be used in any field of interest and will protect your safe being from falling for traps.

I frequently visit search engine land on my daily reading routine or from my feeds. The folks over there have got everything running smooth. However they overlooked their error page.

I was search for something and I decided to directly enter the url and I got what has got to be the uglyiest page on SEL. When I looked at the code it seemed to indicate there was a broken file that stopped the whole page from renderring among other things.
file:
/var/www/html/se/searchengineland.com/cgi-bin/mt/php/lib/MTViewer.php; line: 127; code: 256
It also reveals that SEL is run by Movable Type. SOmething they’ve tried to hide at the main page.

The Alexa Associate Toolbar is once again available to users. For 4 months it was closed while they worked out some problems they had at launch. So just what is the Alexa Associate Toolbar?

It’s a version of the Alexa toollbar that can be customized to your website. To include your logo as well as a link back to your website. Not to mention that if you are an affiliate at Amazon you can gain money each time a user uses the toolbar to buy Amazon products.
Most people don’t trust the Alexa toolbar. So this is a way to get users to promote Alexa for free while giving them some potential to earn money.
The Alexa toolbar is one of the ways that Alexa measures traffic on the web and keeps the lists on it’s main website. This is a great help to the SEO as in a way it’s an easy way to guess how much traffic a site gets. But even more at how advanced the users of the site are. If they are tech savvy or not.
